Dr Edmund Hathaway
Dr. Edmund Hathaway, son of the much respected Charles Hathway,
principal of the Royal College of Surgeons. Educated at Eton, then
Cambridge, where he formed a lifelong bond with the other members of
the Silly Buggers Society - 'Lucky' Manning, Sir Charles Fotheringay,
and Dr Bertie Gibson.
He seemed to have it set. Through Cambridge, onto the Royal College,
and then Harley Street. Perfect.
Except that once he reached Harley Street, problems developed. A lusty
heart, judicious use of the old bedside manner, and a certain basic
level of attractiveness led him to a string of affairs, which
culminated in the Earl of Essex's sister. The Earl broke Edmund's nose
and it took all the Hathaway influence to keep the matter quiet.
Eddie was swiftly booted from Britain to live with his uncle in
Bucharest. His uncle didn't think much of the situation, either - but
he secured Eddie an even more remote post; caring for the young Iulian
Mahrain, son of Duke Mahrain.
The duke died last year. Iulian will not last the summer. And the
Duchess has already succumbed to Eddie's advances...
