1) A big thing we learned was how to apply the stories and lessons of Icarus and Daedelus, the Blind Men and the Elephant, Plato's "Alegory of the cave", and the Five foundational lessons. These stories give us an insight to the human condition. They are all examples of life that no matter how old they are, they still hold true to human life today. They help to show us where we often go astray as humans and why we have to adjust to learn the truth and live an examined life. These lessons apply to many lives and stories as we have seen.
2) a)I think the story and moral of Icarus and Daedelus is important. I hope that I remember that present pleasure isn't always good, because it could lead to harmful consequences, like in Eric Clapton's life. Most kids my age struggle with this, I hope I don't have two.
b)Another thing I don't want to forget is the five foundational lessons. At first I didn't realize it, and thought they weren't all true, but now I see how well they apply to things. I think its very interesting how they do always seem to apply.
c)I also think an important idea is the connection of Gates of Fire, Holden Caulfield, and the Jesuit ideal of "Men for Others". The importance of living for something more than just yourself, being a part of something bigger than you.

This picture reminds me people see things in different ways.
4) Am I living for something greater in life? Do I have a purpose that will make my life meaningful and allow me to live life to the fullest?
5) To be a better person I should make a goal for myself and make sure I get there, by making sure I'm living with a rudder and have a way to get there. This will also give me something greater than just me to live for and will "give me a city" as Bruxious said. I'll have a good purpose. One thing I can do is pick a career right now and take the electives that apply to it in high school, pick a college that will be able to educate me and get me ready for this career. Once I have that job I will be able to better society with my work hopefully.
