CVCC Names Rotary Students for Fall 2007 Semester October 19, 2007 |

| Derval (Dale) Hamilton of Hickory and Jeanna Bergandine of Hiddenite have been named Rotary Students for the fall 2007 semester at Catawba Valley Community College. Up to eight students are nominated for this award during each academic year. The students are recognized for their academic achievements, school leadership and community involvement. Recipients receive gift certificates to be used in the school cafeteria and bookstore. Hamilton and Bergandine will both be guests of CVCC President Dr. Garrett Hinshaw at an upcoming Rotary Club meeting in Hickory. ![]() Bergandine graduated from Alexander Central High School in 2005 and is in her second year of the associate degree nursing program at CVCC. She recently was elected president of the CVCC Student Government Association, (SGA) and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa where she serves as historian. She has also been named to the CVCC Honor’s List. Bergandine is the daughter of Tracie Sharpe of Hiddenite and Steve Bergandine of Harmony. << Back ![]() Hamilton is originally from Jamaica and graduated from Titchfield High School in Portland, Jamaica. He is in his second year of the Information Systems program at CVCC and plans on graduating in May. Hamilton is the current president of the CVCC Circle K Club and a member of Phi Theta Kappa. The son of Joan Ward and Sydney Hamilton, Dale plans on returning to CVCC after graduation and begin studying for a degree in Physical Therapy. His ultimate goal is it to earn a doctorate in physical therapy from Ithaca College in New York. # # # |
