Sherrills Ford Elementary School’s landscaping recently got a summer facelift courtesy of some hard working members of Catawba Valley Community College’s Circle K Club. Circle K is the college and university counterpart to Kiwanis International, which focuses on service to children. Club members, advisors and CVCC faculty members put in a total of 145 volunteer hours on the project. Club secretary Natasha Denny planned the project, which also included environmental learning lessons for 40 students from the Sherrills Ford Library. Companies that supported the project with materials or food for the volunteers include Bill’s Lawn Sprinkler Service, Nelson’s Nursery, Balls Creek Farm & Garden, Key West Fish Company, WalMart, Cooke’s Rentals, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Chick-Fil-A, O’Charley’s, Lowes Hardware, Stumpy’s Tree Service and Hawbridge Farms. CVCC’s Circle K is sponsored by the Hickory Kiwanis.
