| Anna-Maria Pierangeli was born on June 19, 1932 in Cagliri, Italy. She was one half of a twin. Her twin sister was named Maria Pavan. In 1948 she had her first small part in the movie 'The Million Dollar Nickle'. As an actress she took on the name Pier Angeli. She got her first big movie part in 'Teresa' in 1951. When she met James Dean, she fell in love with him. But her mother was very much against their relationship because Jimmy wasn't a Catholic. They broke up and in 1954 Pier married Vic Damone (an Italian singer). They were married for 4 years and had one son. Later Pier married again, this time with Armando Trovajoli, whom she divorced in 1969. In 1971 she appeared on the silver screen for the last time in the movie 'Octaman'. That same year, on September 10, she was found dead in her Beverly Hills home of a drug overdose (barbiturates). Before she died, it is said that she wrote that James Dean was the only man she ever really loved. |
