BIO
J Smooth was born Joe Kinney, in Albany, New York, the Arbor Hill area. J Smooth grew up with two other brothers while his mother raised them as a single parent. J Smooth's father left when Smooth was at a young age. Smooth started rapping when he first head his cousin's (S-Calade) first mixtape. J Smooth then made his debut on S-Calade's 2nd mixtape on a song called Just Like Me. "I live by rules......My Rules", says Smooth. J Smooth brings the rhymes about real life situations dealing with growing up without a father and facing situations of being white in the rap game. He also occasionally likes to drop a funny song or two. Smooth's goal in the rap game is to show that it dosen't matter who you are or what you look like, but how you act and what uve been through, sometimes not even that. It's basically how sick your rhymes are.
