Altar Set Up
Altars are not needed for every spell you cast, but have proven to be a very beneficial tool for witches.  You can make an altar almost anywhere:  a table top, a box, on the floor...just remember to put it
somewhere quiet and out of harm's way.  When dealing with an altar, the
four elements (earth, air, fire, & water) need to be represented.
Here's how to set up your altar:
Here Are The Tools You Will Need:

     Two Tall White Candles                                      Incense

Brass Bowl filled with dirt                          A cup of Water

                 Burner                                                    Protector

First, place the tall white candles, which represents fire, at the back and on each side of your altar.  Put the Incense burner, which represents air, at the back and to the left.  Then place the cup of water at the back and on the right of the altar.

Place the
brass bowl full of dirt, representing earth, on the left side in front of the candle and incense burner.  Then place the burner, which can be brass or cast iron (anything you can make a small fire in will do) on the right side of the altar in front of candle and cup of water.

Now place your
protector in the middle of your altar.  It can be hung up behind the altar or placed on it.  Either is fine.

*NOTE:  Your protector can be anything you would like it to be.  It can be a figurine, a stone you like, a piece of paper...anything that you feel a strong connection with.  I use a ceramic, half moon as my protector.*
Here's another tip for you...in addition to all of the things, you can also place stones, crystals, or astral candles on your altar.  Remember it is your altar, so make it work for you...charge it with your energy.  Good luck!
