ILLUSTRATION GALLERY
At left & below:  These various portraits were designed for a short film, featuring paintings of the actors within the story.  Photo references were used, and an assortment of illustrations -- from color and monochromatic watercolors to abstract pencil sketches -- were done.

Acrylics & colored pencil on matte board.
2002.

This book cover illustration was intended to be more than a bit cartoonish, reduced to a limited color palette of mainly oranges and blues.  Because the artwork was intended to be printed in a small size, I didn't worry so much about painting all the details as making the overall image simple and eye-catching.  The sky was painted first, using an airbrush to give it a "heavenly" feel, and the surrounding buildings were sketched at a very low-level perspective.  The character at the bottom was modelled after three people:  one of my friends for the face, another for the hair, and yours truly for the eyes...
