Sarah,
You know I never have anything to write and my letters are surely rather a bore to you. I write so many and so little news in them that I am getting ashamed to write. I got twenty five dollars from John McNeil, $10 for Hugh, $5 for Silas, and $10 for myself and H. Parkinson and Sons are to pay old man McNeil (John McNeil's father). I wrote James all about it last night. There is no prospect of us getting paid soon. We do not expect it for two months, although we may get it in a week. If we do not get pay for two months (& I know we will not), I hope the boys will not be mad at us driving on them so heavy. If they think hard of me, I hope they will forgive William. In the letter I wrote to James, I give the subject of any of you coming to see me a final farewell and bid you all farewell till this war is over. I think
