Plum Soup

It's an old Krueger family recipe from Grandma Glee.

1 quart canned tart plums (or 2-10 oz cans)
2 cups water
1 teaspoon or 2 sticks cinnamon
dash of salt
2/3 cup sugar or to taste
Bring ingredients to boil and

Dumpling mixture
1 egg
1/4 cup water
dash of salt
1/2 cup flour

Drain the plums, reserving the syrup, and the pit the plums. In a saucepan, combine the reserved syrup, water, sugar and cinnamon. Bring to a boil over modertaly high heat. Add plums, then add dumplings by drizzling over boiling plum sauce. Reduce the heat to moderate and cook the mixture, stirring occasionally for 5 minutes.
Serve warm with ice cream or eat cold after refrigerating for 4 hours or more.
