Flabulous FAQ's

I finally decided to do the FAQ thing. Can you say procrastinator?? I'll do a few and I'll add more weekly, but I'm not committing to timetable just yet. Here goes.......

If you have sent along a question for the page and I haven't answered it yet, don't give up hope, I will answer it soon!!!

Q:How do you continue to keep coming up with new and different ideas for your page?
A:Well, sometimes I'm not sure how I do it either *lol*. I guess between me, my husband and suggestions from visitors there always seems to be something new to do. I think my husband's FAness (I think I just created a new word) helps add alot to the page, especially the pics. He knows what FA's like, so I guess I have an inside scoop.

Q:How did you and your husband meet?
A:We met through a personal ad (in a publication, not online. I know, very low-tech) that my sister placed for me, without my knowledge (the sneak!!!)I really think we were meant to be together, especially considering I didn't respond to his letter until 6 months after I recieved it. If it hadn't been for my sister I might not have responded at all. I had gone out with a couple of guys who responded and I wasn't overly impressed. Then I just gave up answering the letters (I received well over 50). Well one day I was complaining about being alone and never finding anyone. My sister opened the filing cabinet door and said "look at all these unanswered letters. She then pulled out a letter read it and said "what's wrong with this one? He's a pilot even. She then called the number on in the letter and threw the phone at me, and the rest, as they say is history :o).

Q:Do you get a lot of stares, or people making negative comments about/to you when you go out?
A:Actually, I don't really get much of that at all. If people are staring, I'm not aware of it most of the time. Of course, young children will stare on occasion.

Q:When you do notice people staring or saying things about you how do you handle it?
A:Usually, I just give them the biggest, warmest smile I can conjure up. Generally, they will give a half smile back, turn away and not look my way again. One time I was in the mall, sitting on a bench waiting for my husband. Behind me were four teenage boys. They were laughing and pointing at me. I made eye contact, smiled my biggest smile and yelled "hi there" and waved wildly. They half waved back and never looked my way again. I tell ya that was really, really fun to do :o).

Q:How come you haven't replied to the e-mail I sent you?
A:As you can imagine, I do get a high volume of mail. I try very hard to respond to all of it. Unfortuneatly due to real life responsibilities I have fallen behind in answering e-mails. I'm currently two to three weeks behind. I hope to get caught up before Christmas. At which time I'll be busy with family events and will most likely not get around to answering mail until after the 4th of January. Also, I do not respond to "explicit" mail at all.

Q:How old are you?
A:I will be celebrating my 31st birthday on Decemeber 28th of this year (98).

Q:How does your husband feel about your page?
A:I think of my page as a kind of joint effort between the two of us. While I do all the HTML coding, he takes all the pics and comes up with alot of the ideas for poses and features. He also helps me decide which pics to post. He isn't threatened or jealous of the page and the attention it brings at all. He is extremely secure with himself and our marriage. He knows I would never do anything to hurt him or our relationship. He understands that the page has become a part of my life. As long as I'm happy with it, he's happy with it.

Q:How much do you eat in a day?
A:What I eat in a day varies greatly. Some days I don't eat much, so days I do. It just depends on my mood.

Q:Are you a "feedee"?
A:I don't consider myself to be a "feedee". I think of myself as more of an "eatee" (I made up that term). Yes, I enjoy food and eating, but I don't eat in order to gain. I just let things happen naturally. If I gain, I gain, if I don't I don't.

Q:How big do you plan on getting?
A:I don't really "plan" on being any particular size. Do I plan on altering my eating habits anytime in the near future? No, I don't. Does that mean I will get bigger? I don't know. Maybe, maybe not. Will there come I time that I feel I need to alter my habits? Probably. As I said before, I do get around pretty good, if that starts to change dramatically I will have to do something about it. I enjoy getting out and about and I don't think I would be very happy if I lost that ability.

Q:If you are not a feedee then why do you post your weights and measurments?
A:I post that information only because it is much, much easier then answering the requests I get for that info by e-mail. I was getting asked that questions several times a week. Posting it was just easier.

Q:Where do you buy your clothes?
A:I buy my clothes through various businesses. I do get alot of stuff mail order from companies like Lane Bryant, Roaman's, Plus Woman, and also the King Sized catalog (for big and tall men) I also buy on occasions from a few retail stores. I am able to find things that fit from time to time at Lane Bryant's retail stores. Of course, it depends on the article of clothing and what it is made out of. I also shop at a local store called Paradis Found in Sturbridge, Massachusetts and Bodacious Babes in Saugus, MA. I do plan on starting a retail clothing resource list soon. I hope for it to be similar to our fat-friendly movie theater list. So, if you have favorite local shop that carries plus, super and big mens's sizes send me the name, the city and state where it is located and the sizes they carry. Also include any additional info like the sizes of the dressing rooms, the price range and the like.

Q:Is your whole family big?
A:Yes, my whole family is "big". My parents are around 250 lbs each. My older sister is (I'm guessin g here) probably around 220 or so and my older brother is probably around 300 lbs. My mom, sister, brother and I struggled with our weight from an early age. All four us of have also lost and gained hundreds of pounds over the years. My dad was always thin, but gained weight after marrying my mom.
My maternal grandmother was around 250 or so, and her mother had to be about 400 lbs, possibly more. (you have to realize that my great grandmother died when I was 7 years old, so she might have been smaller, but to my little eyes appeared that big). My mother's younger sister was ,last time I saw her which was several years ago, over 450 lbs. My maternal grandfather was very muscular and of average build. My paternal grandmother was at one time around 350 lbs, I only knew her as a tiny thing of about 4'11" and about 100 lbs. My paternal grandfather died before I was 2 years old, but from the pics I've seen, he was very thin. My dad's younger sister is tall and thin, as was his half brother.
I do have a pic of me and my parents and siblings, as soon as I get everyone's o.k., I'll post it on the site.

Q:Since you don't work, what do you do all day?
A:Well, I spend time online, working on my page, chatting or just surfing. I clean the old homestead, spend quality time with my kitty, read, watch t.v. Occasionally, I volunteer at the school my husband works at, helping various people with data entry of records, or special projects.

Q:Why are you barefoot in most of your pics? Can you wear regular shoes?
I really don't like shoes. I much prefer to go barefoot. I can and do wear regular shoes but under protest :). I wear sneakers for everyday wear and I reluctantly will wear dress shoes when I go out. I did have some trouble with dress shoes this summer, I had a terrible time with my feet swelling in the hot weather, but they're doing better now.

Q:What's your height and weight?
A: I stand 5' 6" tall and as of September 19th I weigh 520 lbs. I do post my weight after a trip to the scale on the pic of the week page. You can also find monthly measurements there too.

Q: How is your mobility?
A: I get around pretty good for a person who weighs 520 lbs. I can do just about anything I need or want to do. I do get winded, and my back does get sore, but if I take things slow and rest just a short while, I'm o.k. I don't have a physically strenuous life therefore my size doesn't compromise my activities much. My husband and I go to bbw dances quite often. I dance both fast and slow songs. Usually I dance one song, then sit a few out, then I'm ready for another.

Q: What do you do for work/Do you work?
A: I don't work due to my constant struggle with bi-polar disorder (manic/depression). In 1992 the condition stopped me from working. 1992 - 1994 were very rough years for me. Finding the right medications was a long and frustrating process. Finally, after a few years and numerous different meds, my doctor found a combination of medications that work well for me. I have been on this combination since July of 1994. While overall I am doing much better, I still struggle with the disorder.
When I stopped working I was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at a pediatric nursing home, working the graveyard shift. Prior to that I worked as an assistant teacher for severe and profoundly retarded young adults.

Stay tuned... more to come. If you have a burning question send it along.
