Flare Tube Top

Chain 19.

Row 1: sc in second chain from hook, sc in each chain to end of row (18 sc).  Ch1, turn.
Rows 2-10: sc in first sc, sc in each sc to end of row.  Ch1, turn.
Row 11: 2sc in first sc, sc in each sc to end of row (36 sc).  Finish off.

Tie: with top of garment and right side facing, chain 40, skip first 8 stitches, sc in next 2 stitches, chain 40.  Finish off.  (if this makes a hole you don't like, you can insert hook one row down to give the single crochets more to grab onto).  Clip ends of ties to about 1/4". 

Sew up back seam of top.

Flare Skirt

Chain 24.

Row 1: sc in second chain from hook, sc in each chain to end of row (23 sc).  Ch2, turn.
Row 2: skip first sc, sc in next sc, * ch1, skip next sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * to end of row.  Ch1, turn.
Row 3: sc in each sc and each ch1 space.  Ch3, turn.
Rows 4-8: dc in first sc, dc in each sc to end of row.  Ch3, turn.
Row 9: 2 dc in first dc, 2 dc in each dc to end of row.  Finish off.

Sew up back seam of skirt.

Tie: chain 100.  Clip ends of tie to about 1/4".  Thread through holes made in row 2.
