Starless Night

She stares into a starless night
And blind sadness fills her eyes.
Her hand trembles of lost hope;
On the cloud, she no longer floats.
Did I see a twinkle of Jesus tonight?
Or was it just a faded light?
She holds her broken heart in hand
Wondering if night brings a last chance.
Why do I feel so lonely when I'm not alone?
If only I could feel when I came home.
A tear trickles down her cheek:
Soft skin fallen prey to peace.
Gently the wind blows through her.
She wishes love again could be heard.
Hiding her face in the shadows,
Loneliness speaks so soft and mellow.
With clinched fist and drawn chin,
She knows to follow that same path again.
Knowing where it goes as she follows,
Trudging through ice and snow.
My advice shouldn't be mine.
I wonder what happens this time.
A good guess might miss the mark.
Maybe the killing kiss will ignite a spark.
I think I thought too far.
