Inside My Eyes

by Cindy Frane

With rage alight in the eyes
i have become a woman condemned
to railing against what unfairly is
and fighting after all hope has dimmed

i channel my fury into my eyes
these orbs now all my wrath contain,
from my face quickly drains the despise
and my words no longer my anger explain

it's a peculiarity of those eyes
to be able to hold so much bitter gall
but they hold not the power to tell lies
and anyone who looks deeply in will learn all

Yet, i care not if they should learn
for my anger would not be forgotten
Although they might surmise the revenge i yearn
they won't be able to gauge how hot my anger's gotten.

So look, look, look; YOU into my eyes
look in, see, know what soon shall pass
when my rage escapes all restaining ties
it goes out ready to hand someone their ass

My rage cannot be allowed to come out now
but at some point my vengeance will be resumed
My eyes of anger will show me how
for i see a woman of rage consumed.
