Stem Major: Biomedical Engineer

My career goal is to do something that helps others, including animals. I would like to have a career in something that is in the medical field for either people or animals. I like knowing that people feel better and are receiving all the help that is needed. The same thing goes to animals. I want to help them with what is wrong with them and make them feel better. They feel stuff just like humans, but aren't able to communicate what is wrong with them so I think it's important to do everything possible to help them.

Careers

My name is Cindy Barrera and I am 16 years old. I'm a girl that enjoys the outdoors and playing with my dog. What I hope to achieve later on is anything related to medicine, or teaching. I like helping people and doing everything that is possible to help them. I have always liked math subjects and find it fun to teach math related subjects to younger kids. I'm also really good at caring for younger kids and have patience with them.

I enjoy the outdoors and cold weather. However, some of my hobbies are bike riding and growing flowers during the warmer seasons. I also enjoy reading and writing when I can. I try to be a positive person as much as I can and help others. Since I was younger I have had anxiety and I am also a very shy person. Those are the two obstacles that I am working on getting over.

Since I was little I have had anxiety and it has always limited what I'm able to do. Since I heard about the Sky Deck Chicago a few years ago, I had wanted to go but my anxiety wouldn't let me. During this year's spring break I decided to go to the Sky Deck Chicago, which was a big accomplishment for me.
