Mitsukake used to be the village medicine man. Paople would come to him because he has such a gift for healing the sick.

One fateful day he had to choose whome he would save first, a child or the love of his life. His true love dies that day because he couldn't get to her in time to save her.

He took to the woods and lived as a hermit afterwards

It took alot of coercing from Miaka and the boys to get him out of hiding. In his heart, he no longer felt he could make a diffrence. Miaka proved him wrong and he joins the other warriors.

He keeps a pet kitten with him

His special power is the power to heal.
