| Arms: Cut the twine into strands. Place 9 strands together, with ends even. Wrap an elastic band around one end and braid (3 strands, 3 sections for braid) a to 11 inches long, secure this end with an elastic band and cut off excess strands from end. Set braid aside. Body: Place 18 strands of twine together, with ends even. Measure 14 inches from one end and tie strands together at this place with a string. Lay strands on a flat surface, knot facing up and trim other end so that strands are all even. Keeping these ends together, fold the strands over so that ends are even with tie. Glue the ends in place using hot glue gun. Cut folded ends of strands. Center arm braid across the body strands. Glue braid in place. Fold the 14 inch strands over the arms with all body strands together and with a loose strand tie the body strands together at the back of the body just below the arms. Trim all body strands to make them even.Remove elastic bands from the braid. Trim arms to the desired length and tie the ends of the arms tightly with string. Glue the hands together. Head: Paint wood bead, skin tone or any desired color. Allow paint to dry and glue to the twine body top. Glue lace or decorative trim around the neck area for a collar. Glue Spanish moss to head for hair, arrange the moss around the face area. Wings: Using pattern cut quilted material and stitch wings, attach wings with glue to the back of the angel. (click HERE for wings pattern and poem) Finishing Touches: Draw eyes, nose a mouth with a marker or paint and add a little blush or pink paint for cheeks. Once dry, apply 2 coats ofFuture Floor Finish to seal the paint and avoid scratches. Make a loop from gold chenille and small pearl cording, twisted together to form a halo and glue to the head top. Glue strands of ribbon and pearls to the waist area, glue hands in place on the body and glue small poinsettias to the top of the hands. For a hanger, glue a piece of gold cord or twine strand, looped to the top inside of the angel wings. Variations: Use different wing material and flowers for different seasons. |
