BELOW IS A BRIEF SUMMARY OF MY RELIGIOUS BELIEFS AND HOW THEY CAME TO BE

This page is dedicated to Pastor Darrell Dunn who led me to Christ. I didn't realize that I could have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ until I heard Pastor Dunn's sermon.

I had believed in God for as long as I could remember, but I really didn't feel complete. There were so many unanswered questions, the main one being; how do I get to heaven? Well, I sat in church as our guest preacher, Pastor Dunn gave his sermon. He made me realize that I can know, without a shadow of a doubt, that I am going to heaven.

Impossible you might say? Well, let me tell you, when I left church that day, I felt like a whole new person...I guess that's where the term "born again" came from...

...at the end of the service, Pastor Dunn gave an invitation for anyone present, to come forward if they wanted to know Christ. I took the Pastor up on his invitation. He took me into one of the church offices. We sat down and opened up the Bible. He started out by asking me if I believed that I was a sinner. I responded with "yes." He showed me some passages in the Bible. Two that stick out in particular are; Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Pastor Dunn continued to explain...God sent his son to die for our sins. (Well, I already knew that.) What I didn't know is that we must repent of our sins. He again, showed me more Bible verses... Romans 10:9,10 & 13, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." We also read John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

I asked him about being "born again" and he went on to show me some more verses that explained it to me. John 3:3 says "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily verily, I say into thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." ...We then prayed together, aloud. I told God that I knew I was a sinner and asked him for forgivness of my sins. I then asked him to come into my heart and take over my life. I knew I couldn't do things on my own. Continuing with the prayer I acknowledged that Jesus died for my sins, so that I may have eternal life. I also thanked him for the wonderful gift, knowing that I was not worthy of such a gift.
After praying, I broke down and cried. I didn't cry of sadness, but of remarkable happiness. At that moment I truly realized the "price" that was paid for my sins. The love that God has for us, by giving us such a selfless gift, showed me that we may ALL have eternal life.
