"I don't envy those who have never known any pain, physical or spiritual, because I strongly suspect that the capacity for pain and the capacity for joy are equal. Only those who have suffered great pain are able to know equally great joy."
Madeleine L'Engle 1986 from "A Stone For A Pillow"

Hello again. As I mentioned, my name is Tom and I'm a 58 year old man from Michigan. I was disabled after being burned in a house fire back in 1987 and if you go to "The Rainbow Collection" link, you'll find a story concerning the details. I have a grown daughter named Lea, who lives in New Mexico, a brother, Jon, who is 16 years younger than myself and a father, who, at 81, does very well for himself and my mother passed away September 9th., 1994; I still miss her each day of my life. There is also a very special lady in my life whose name is Sylvia and we have known each other for just about four years. Here are pics of Sylvia and myself ,,,,

Addiionally, I became a grandfather to Ian Thomas Harrison on Feb. 26, 2000.

and James Paul Harrison on Nov. 5, 2002....

This is Lea and I in 1973....

I was a volunteer patient representative at our local hospital and did it for 11 years, although it finally got physically more difficult and I'm no longer able to do it. I am an avid football fan, although the Lions never have a prayer. LOL. Hockey runs a close second, for which I am eternally thankful for the outstanding performance of the Red Wings. I love to read just about anything and enjoy all types of music, with the exception on some of the rap, which has eluded me.

Although some specific issues are very important to me, I haven't taken life too seriously, which is either a character defect or an asset, depending on your outlook on it. Geez, we're all going to die anyway!! LOL!! I've never quite grown up either, which is a promise I've always had no difficulty in keeping to myself. Ha Ha!

I live in Port Huron, Michigan, also known as "Blue Water Country" as is illustrated below. This is a picture at the mouth of Lake Huron as it enters the Saint Clair river. Port Huron is on the left and Sarnia, Ontario is on the right. The only thing different is that we now have two bridges connecting our countries.....

The picture below depicts The Fort Gratiot Lighthouse, also located in Port Huron. It's one of the oldest lighthouses around.....in fact, it's even older than me!

So, that's my very brief story about me and where I come from. Thanks again for stopping by..
