| I wrote the first draft of this in 10th grade. I tweaked it in '02, when I was a member of moontowncafe.com, an online poetry forum. | ||||||||||||||
| Rose petals shimmer with fresh fallen dew, Humming birds begin their morning flight. Amber and violet skies accompany dawns debut, Bidding adieu to the darkness of night. Golden Fingers stretch lazily across the sky, As the first light of day kisses the eager land. Tulips open to welcome bee and butterfly, Earth warmed by the sun's gentle hand. A whispering breeze softly rustles the leaves, Sky opens to reveal hidden raindrops. Thirsty flowers drink in with graceful ecstasy, Birds bathe and sing happily from treetops. Rain and wind reluctantly subside, Setting the stage for the approaching dusk. In the air is the sweet scent of springtime musk, As day and night ever so subtly collide. Sunset tiptoes in and steals the daylight, The sun sinks behind the horizon in a colorful show. Fireflies flutter and flit in the crimson twilight, The moon begins to cast its eerie glow. So begins the transition of day into night, Always a simple yet enchanting sight. |
