Ever After

Copyright Missy Lynn 2002
I wrote this in 2002, I think I was getting over one of my "Disney Binges", where I watch all the "princess" disney movies, lol... This one is obviously about Cinderella...

In a world of darkness and lost hope
I wander to a place that noone knows
A world of peace, happiness and smiles,
Realizing it's only for a while.
I watch the faeries and unicorns play
By the crystal clear, bubbling brooks all day.
Hearing the soft voices and tinkering laughter,
I think this must be the land of ever after.
The grass so green, the sky perfectly blue,
The rainbow never ends like they usually do.
The faeries scent the flowers in which they lay,
Then wake eager to start their day.
The bluebirds and robins all take flight,
against an endless sky of blue and white.
I see a castle far away on a grassy hill,
sprinkled with happy tulips and daffodils.
The journey is far, but I decide to go,
And see who lives in this fairytale home.
I make my way past the garden and stables,
And all kinds of wonder from childhood fables.
I come upon the front door step,
I knock cautiously and hold my breath.
A beautiful woman, graceful and petite,
Invites me in for a bite to eat.
Over tea and biscuits we chatted a while,
She told me of her life with tears and smiles.
She was the blacksheep of her family,
No one loved her, I found it hard to believe.
She once had the truest love of her mother,
Until she died and her father married another.
I was beginning to feel so sad for this girl,
For living in such a sad, lonely world.
Then I remembered that's why I was here,

To escape the loneliness, sadness and fear.
Suddenly she daintily jumps to her feet,
Saying there's someone that I should meet.
As I'm gazing at this handsome fella,
Shyly she whispers,
By the way, I'm Cinderella.
