Summer of 2007
My summer started with summer school. Dr. Cohn and I led two weeks of Great Hikes. We travelled all over Arizona and hiked in Prescott, Sedona, and the Verde Valley. In fact, here I am leading the group at my favorite Arizona hike, West Fork. The weather was great and the sights were beautiful. I also taught SimCity 2000, Teambuilding, and Great Books during the third week of summer school. Overall, it was an excellent summer school experience!
After wrapping up summer school, I was off to raft the Grand Canyon with my Dad. My Dad and I have wanted to go down the Canyon for many years and this summer was the time we could both do it. We started out of Lee's Ferry and floated 180 miles over seven days where we were helicoptered out at Whitmore Wash. We had a great time hiking, riding the Class 10 rapids, and viewing the amazing places in the Canyon, including the Little Colorado and Havasu Creek. I highly recommend this trip.
As if a Grand Canyon adventure were not enough, after returning from the Canyon, I was off to Costa Rica. This country is filled with non-stop adventure including hiking, volcano watching, crocodile viewing, zip lining, and thermal water soaking. Some highlights were flying down a half mile long zip line (see left) and holding a 300 pound python (with help). Of yes, I can't forget having the opportunity to watch a mountain grow before my eyes, as I viewed Vulcan Arenal shoot up red hot rocks all day long. Costa Rica is a welcoming and exciting destination. My trip there was unforgettable!
