Code of Ethics

Abide by the constitution and by-laws of the German Shorthair Pointer Club of America and the Rules of the American Kennel Club.

Keep accurate breeding records, registration papers, and pedigrees.

All services and sales arrangements shall be mutually agreed upon, stated in writing and signed by all parties.

All advertising shall be honest and not in any way misrepresentative, fraudulent or misleading.

Support and conduct only ethical trade practices.

Maintain the best possible standards of canine health, cleanliness, and care.

Encourage the x-raying and OFA certification for hip dysplasia.

All dogs offered at stud shall not be bred prior to two years of age and shall be in good health and free from communicable diseases and disqualifying faults.

No bitch shall be bred more often than once a year, nor prior to two years of age, and shall be in good health and free from communicable diseases and disqualifying faults.

No stud dog will be bred to any bitch whose owner is directly or indirectly involved with any puppy mill, puppy broker, pet shop, litter lot sales or any other commercial enterprises whose business is involved in like activities.

No bitch will be bred for commercial reasons.  All bitches will be bred with intentions of that particular breeding improving the breed.

No German Shorthair Pointer will be sold to commercial facilities, pet shop, puppy brokers or mills nor agents thereof.

Honestly evaluate the quality of all German Shorthair Pointers sold and fairly represent that evaluation.

Prices of puppies shall be based on individual quality.  Members shall maintain prices so as not to be injurious to the breed.  Substandard or inferior quality animals should be sold with written agreement to have that animal altered and papers withheld pending alteration.

Furnish records to buyer of shots,  pedigree, and AKC registration unless written agreement is made at the time of sale that papers be withheld.

All members shall conduct themselves at all times in such a manner as to reflect credit on the sport of purebred dogs, and German Shorthair Pointers in particular.
