| Here we sit, some four months away from the beginning of the new season. Somehow, some way, everyone involved in the league is a buzz with excitement for 2003 and I felt it necessary to give the site a little love. As will be noticed by most who regularly visit BWL's internet home, all pages related to the 2001 season have been moved to a new Archives page linked up on the main index. Who isn't pumped about this? As I type, my heart is pumping faster and faster with every thought of a shot off Southpaw Sanctuary, a diving catch, or a close play at first to end a game controversially. What we know so far: format will return to the style of 2001 after a disastrous attempt at expansion and reformation last summer. Only three official teams will be in the league and up for our league championship. They will be the NSI composed of R. Trogden, Owens, and Harris. This is the same lineup from 2001 that won the World Series, and one that strikes fear in the souls of opposing pitchers. The GC Gophers return two men from 2001 in D. Trogden and L. Sizemore, while adding the skinny power machine Josh Davis over from the 2001 PDN Untouchables. Those Untouchables fell into ruin, and were renamed by me as the Old Boston Crabs. Mark Cribbet became a member in 2002, and this season we will add Zack Faris who unsuccessfully attempted to anchor an expansion team last summer. I predict better competition than in 2001, and a surprise winner of the series. Hopefully things will get back to the simple nature of our inaugural season and keep things both competitive and fun. One thing we are considering is allowing outside teams to form and play exhibition games with member teams of the BWL, while not putting these statistics towards the officials totals of the league. We may even play an all star game of BWL vs. outside opponents, which would be quite the time. It's too far away to think about without tearing up, so I better quit while I'm ahead. Hope you enjoyed the preview, and I look forward to seeing you in June. Peace! |
