And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, He heareth us; And we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him. I John 5:14-15
BELIEVE it or not we are at the halfway point of this calendar year. As your Pastor I take this time to challenge you to slow down for an afternoon and pick up your bible, a pad and pen, then find a quiet place to talk to the Lord and most importantly to listen to Him. "He that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches." (Rev, 3:6)
Over the last several months the Holy Spirit has called us as a congregation to a deeper level of commitment, a fresh understanding of Holiness and the continual call to come up higher in our times of study of the word, prayer, praise and most importantly worship.
The scriptures in Isaiah and I John can not be ignited in us without the
elements of a pure heart and a clean tongue. Our profession of faith, our belief
in the strong right arm of the Lord and the confidence of his hearing and
answering the believer can be studied in seven ways.
1. Speak Sound Doctrine (Titus 2:1)
In a world looking for a fast fix and a quick way out God wants a people raised on the uncompromising word of God. In every situation learn to speak his word. Get a solid sound in your heart and mouth.
2. Tell the truth. (I Peter 2:24, I Peter 4:17-18)
The report of the Lord overrides every evil report of the enemy. Frame your life around the promises of God. Do let every man be a liar and God be truth to you in every circumstance. Tell the truth of the word to your test or trial.
3. Let your life speak service (Ephesians 5:21)
The world will know we are his by our love for one another. The language of love breaks the most intense barrier and will bring down the thickest fortress of fear and hate. Demonstrate God's love.
4. Be bold in speech (Ephesians 6:20)
The righteous are called to be bold as lions. It is necessary to speak the word; share the word; live the life of faith in 'golden boldness'. We should always speak from our heritage of faith never from the ashes of our past.
5. Declare your faith without shame (Luke 9:26)
Your words will be like a refiner's fire? There can be no fear or shame attached to the lifestyle you now lead as a Christian. Never be ashamed to give a report about your new bloodline.
6. Be bold in prayer. (Jude 1:20)
The foundation of a believable report comes from a rich language or fountain of prayer. Pray unceasing keep your channel clear and your heart pure. Pray the report of the word! (Hebrews 11:1)
7. Having a transforming word (Romans 12:2)
Finally, allow the word to so transform you that it is the first thought of the day the last thought of the evening and the guardian of your life. A mind girded with the living word will devastate every evil report that satan would attempt to assign to your life.
These seven principles are by no means a complete manual on building a believable report. It is only a starting point, to direct you into the presence of the King of Glory. May the remainder of your year be rich in discovering a life filled with believable reports of VICTORY!
