Conquering the Filth of Fear
Revelation 21:7-8
"He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will
be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful and unbelieving, and
the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters,
and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and
brimstone: which is the second death."
What a terrible benediction to a life that could have been yielded to the Lord. Looking at verse 8a it is amazing that the fearful are in the same company as sorcerers and idolaters and the end is the lake of fire. We need to learn how God looks at fear. A God that loves you want the excellence of the kingdom to manifests in your life. Some biblical researchers say there are enough "Fear Not" phrases for every day of the year. What an example of the love of God to give a first line strategy against the attack of the enemy. Fear can be paralyzing and therefore a hindrance to you growing up in faith and trust in God. Fear locks you out of belief in the promises of the word. Fret locks you out of joy. Fear locks you out of developing the ministry and gifts in you. The end result is that your place in the body being compromised and souls that may have been reached by your life for sowing, watering or reaping never happened! Do you see why you have to see fear as it really is -- a scum or filth that wants to hold a great majority of the body of Christ captive. We must aggressively attack every spot, wrinkle or blemish in the bride with the purifying power of the word of God and the weapons of war that are at our disposal.
The parable of the ten talents as recorded in Matthew 25:14-30 shows us that everyone was productive except the servant who received one talent."Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hat not sown, and gathering where thou has not strawed: And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou has that is thine." Matthew 25:24-25. Because of his fear he lost all he had.
This is not the time to draw back but to press into a strong walk of trust in God knowing he will give the increase and bring you through to victory. We are all called to "Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereto thou are also called, and has professed a good profession before many witnesses." I Timothy 6:12
There is no place in this end time age for trembling Christians and Kool-Aid Saints! There may be trials and test on the journey but as we are washed by the word and obtain victories through Jesus Christ we can say like Paul "For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day" II Timothy 1:12. When you are fully persuaded there is no room for fear to keep you from prayer, studying the word and having a testimony and life that shows forth the love and power of God.
God's desire is for us to inherit all things. The antidote for fear is faith. Fear is an embarrassment to the kingdom of God. Learn strong words of faith. Rebuke fear. Know that you can do all things through Christ that strengthens you. Philippians 4:13.
Know the enemy is a liar and his very appearance is a bluff. We are called to not fear his attacks but to resist them:
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world." I Peter 5:8-9 Finally keep a praise in you heart:
"Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savior of his knowledge by us in every place." II Corinthians 2:14
