The Proposal Page

The proposal came after Cindy had been ill for several weeks. She was finally

starting to feel like getting up and going out a little at a time. We went out to dinner on

Saturday night, March 24th. I had the ring in my pocket all night ready to propose but after

dinner Cindy was tired so I took her home. But Sunday, March 25th just before lunch we

were in her parents backyard relaxing and swinging and the time was right. I stood up

as if startled and said "Oh....do you know what today is?" Cindy looked puzzled and replied

"Sunday?". I told her "This is the day that you make me the happiest man alive". I then dropped to

my knee, pulled out the ring box and asked "Cynthia Lynn Parker Shepherd, will you

marry me?". Her mouth hung open in shock, and tears began to well in her eyes as she began

to realize what was happening. She began to smile and rose to hug me while saying "Yes".

After collecting herself, we went inside to show her family. Then we gathered up her daughter

Shelby and sat in the living room floor with her. Then I gave Shelby her ring and asked

"Shelby, would you be my step-daughter?". She smiled and said yes.
