Bayberry ![]() myrica cerifera myrica californica Myricaceae Fruit was used by Choctaw Indians as a tea, and later the root bark was included in Samuel Thompson's famous cold and flu formula. Astringent action of root bark abates diarrhoea, haemorrhages; and as a gargle, soothes sore throat. It is often used for its astringent properties.
