Herbals for Headaches and Migranes For Headaches Herb: Chamomile, sage, rosemary, peppermint, wormwood Herbal teas made of any of the above will do nicely. I usually use a combination of whatever is available at the time.... For heat related headaches: Apply a paste of freshly grounded horseraddish on a damp cloth and apply to neck for 1/2 hour. For Migranes Herb: Various Several possibilities: Take vitamin E and brewers yeast (1 tablespoon powerder/day). Some swear that sniffing vinegar will kill a beginning migrane, others get relief from using a hair dryer on medium heat at the first sign of a headache, and allowing the heat to sooth them. Feverfew also helps, but as a side effect gives you stronger menstruation. 250mg of feverfew in pill form brand name: herbal factors. You can ground down the herb and fill gel capsules with it. Take more when the weather is bad, air pressure can be a big trigger. Here are several remedies collected from other herbalists: #1 Mix equal parts of vinegar and water and bring to a boil. Inhale the fumes for several minutes. Repeat as needed. #2 This is a natural pain killer good for migraines. Chop 1 tablespoon of stinking iris and add to 1 pint of water. Boil gently for 15 minutes. Strain and take up to 3 tablespoons per day. Has a slight laxative effect so you may want to weaken it further. #3 At the first sign of a headache, make a strong cup of regular coffee, adding 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. The caffeine acts as a diuretic and helps some migraine suffers. Black coffee is also good for asthma or bronchial spasms. #4 Put 2 tablespoons of dried nettle (substitute peppermint if allergic to nettle) in 2 cups of milk. Simmer for 10 minutes. Strain and sweeten with honey. Drink while warm. Some people swear that milk can cause severe headaches. Worth a try. Substitute with i.e. soymilk for a few weeks and see what happens.
