Notes: From Charlie’s point of view.

Cecilia threw herself on Fred’s bed. Charlie rolled his eyes when she began crawling around, throwing pillows all over the room.

“Stop it!” he shouted. “What are you doing?”

“Looking for candy. I thought you weren’t talking to me.”

“I’m yelling at you, that’s not the same thing.”

Cecilia slid down on the floor with a thud. Charlie muttered.

“Sorry,” she whispered.

Charlie went back to his homework. It had been a quiet day for him with Cecilia wishing him to China. He hadn’t seen her since breakfast. Maybe he should’ve been concerned about their grade, but he was actually fine, as long as Cecilia kept quiet. That only lasted a short moment, though. A rustling sound from the other side of the room got his attention away from the book he’d been reading.

“Cecilia?”

“Uhu?”

“What the hell are you doing?”

“Being quiet. You told me to be.”

“That’s not ‘quiet’. If that’s silence, Linkin Park makes lullaby-music. Get up from the floor and stop bugging me.”

“Wanna watch a movie?” Cecilia whispered.

“Quiet,” he ordered.

Cecilia nodded, walked over to the TV, grabbed an empty case to a videocassette and began waving it around. Charlie closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths. “Cecilia...”

“I’m not talking.”

“Fine, watch the movie. But quiet.”

Cecilia turned the TV on and sat down on Charlie’s bed. He threw an eye at her. “Can’t you sit on Fred’s bed?”

“Yours is closer to the TV,” she explained quietly. “My eyes hurt if I don’t sit close.”

“Fine, sit close. But quiet.”

“How do you sit quietly close?” she asked him. He shoved the book into the bed with a thud.

“Be quiet!”

Cecilia nodded again. He was still watching her in disbelief. No way that she could be quiet for very long.

“Can I ask you something?”

Charlie frowned. “If you do it telepathically, yes.” Cecilia shrugged. He saw how she stretched her arm at his direction. He wasn’t prepared for her pulling the pillow away from behind his back. He fell backwards and hit his head in the wall.

“Cecilia!”

“I needed a pillow,” she told him. “And I couldn’t ask for it, so what was I supposed to do?”

“Maybe use one of the pillows you tossed around earlier?”

“Fred doesn’t like that I use his pillows when I watch movies. He says I’m too messy and drop crumbs on them.”

“And I like that?” Charlie concluded. “Gimme the pillow.” He grabbed the pillow and tried to take it away from her. However, Cecilia kept holding the pillow in one corner, and they both pulled at their own direction.

“Can’t you let me have the pillow? You don’t even use it!”

“Leave my stuff alone!” he shouted back.

“I had it.”

“I had it first!”

“Let go!” they both yelled. Charlie did as told, and Cecilia fell off the bed and the pillow followed her. Charlie chuckled.

“That wasn’t nice,” she exclaimed. “I could’ve been hurt!”

“Are you hurt?”

“No.”

“Then why are you still whining? Gimme the remote, I’m watching TV now.”

“I was watching!” Cecilia winced.

“It’s my TV.”

“Fred bought it.”

“Go ask for his permission to use it,” Charlie suggested. “Don’t be surprised if the door’s locked when you come back.”

He began flipping through the channels, waiting for Cecilia to object. She didn’t say a word for a long time.

“Wait!” she suddenly yelled. It startled him.

“Don’t scream, Cecilia.”

“I wanna watch that!”

“Please, could you be more immature? Only kids watch cartoons.”

“Julie said I was a youngster this morning. I like cartoons, I used to watch them with my brothers when I was little.”

“I won’t watch it,” Charlie said, pushing the button.

“Okay, the next channel you land on, we’ll watch.”

“Okay,” he agreed. “Unless it’s something stupid.”

Cecilia tried to grab the remote from him, but he kept it away from her. “I’m in charge right now. If you don’t like it, go back to your own room.”

“Fred’s there.”

“He’s your boyfriend.”

“He’s a lying boyfriend. He slept with someone last night.”

Charlie dropped the remote into the floor. “What?!”

“That’s what he said! Connie said that he’d been sleeping somewhere last night. He had to be sleeping with someone, right?”

“So, Connie told you that Fred had slept with someone?”

“No, she said that he had fallen asleep at a strange place.”

Charlie rolled his eyes. “That doesn’t necessarily mean that he slept with someone. Don’t exaggerate like that, please. Fred would never do something like that. That much you know.”

“He was acting really strange.”

“YOU are his girlfriend, that’s the reason why the boy’s acting strange! Look, I don’t wanna sound too mushy, but one can describe him as your soul mate.”

“No,” Cecilia objected.

“Yes. Please, you two belong together. Just deal already. Why do I feel like I’m having this conversation in a TV-series?”

“Because it sounds stupid,” Cecilia answered. “Fred and I might be going out, but we’re not soul mates. Don’t go all Dawson’s Creek on me.”

“May I please suggest that you refer to a show that doesn’t completely blows?”

“You brought it up!”

“Well, he might be Dawson, and you might be Joey, but I’m not cut out to be in a teen-show. I’m more of a reality-TV kinda person.”

“Yeah, you’re too ugly for a show like Dawson’s Creek. You’re even too ugly to be playing a corpse on C.S.I.”

“Hey, I could totally be on a show like Dawson’s Creek. I’m even good enough for playing the starring role! If you and Fred are Dawson and Joey, I could very well be your catcher in the rye, like I’m already am. You know, that Pacey-guy.”

“Yeah right! Charlie, please, like you could ever be Pacey!”

Charlie frowned and pushed her off the bed.

“Shut up and leave me alone, I need to study.”

Cecilia grabbed the remote from the floor and began watching some movie.

Charlie went back to his book. “I could totally be Pacey,” he muttered quietly to himself
