Friendship
Chapter
4: Interference
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Notes: From Cecilia’s point of view.
“What the
hell... Who the hell... Don’t answer, Cecilia.”
Cecilia
sighed. She and Fred were in her room, spending some time together. Okay, the truth
was, they were half-arguing, half making out.
The
disturbing noise came from the door. She already knew it was Adam, from the
annoying way he knocked on. What was his problem anyway? Adam knew that she was
with Fred. Why did he have to disturb them?
She sat up,
pushing Fred away. Fred wasn’t too pleased with being pushed away, obviously.
“Cecilia,
are you kidding? Don’t answer the door.”
The
knocking stopped, and Cecilia agreed to Fred’s request for leaving the door
unanswered.
“Look, I’m
sure it wasn’t important, it’s probably just...” Cecilia was interrupted by her
phone. It started to play that usual tune, and Fred moaned even louder.
“I give up,
just answer the damn thing.”
Cecilia
kissed him on the cheek, and reached for the phone. “Hello?”
“It’s me,
open the door, you silly girl.”
It was
Adam, of course. Who else?
“I’m busy,
Adam. You have to wait, I’m with Fred now.”
“I left my
wallet on your drawer. I have to have it now, I don’t have any money.”
Cecilia was
about to hang up, when she changed her mind. “Well, now you know how I felt
last Saturday.”
Adam
sighed. “I know, I’m the worst friend ever, but please, Cee. Be nice to me. If
you give it to me, you can bug me tomorrow if you want.”
“Do you
think you’ll have a head-ache?”
“Probably.”
“Deal.
Where are you?”
“Outside.
Two seconds, Cee.”
“’key.”
Cecilia
pushed Fred away again and put her feet on the floor. It was cold, compared to
the warm bed. She heard Fred mumble something, and he didn’t look too happy
about the situation.
“Two
seconds, Fred. I promise.” She put her robe on and went over to the door. She
saw Adam’s wallet on the drawer, so she took it with her, and opened the door.
Adam was
outside, leaning against the wall with an amused look on his face. “Hey sweetie.”
Cecilia made a face at him.
“Don’t call
me ‘sweetie’, Adam. Here, take it and leave.” She handed him his wallet and was
about to close the door.
“You’re
dressed easily for a Friday night. Maybe we should have that as a dress code at
our next ‘movie-night’.”
Cecilia
growled. “Leave, Adam. Fred is already pissed as it is.”
Adam looked
guilty. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to disturb you guys. Tell him I’m sorry.”
“He’s not
mad at you. He is mad at me, because I answered the door.”
“Really?
What are you doing?” Adam grinned.
“Leave.
Now!” Cecilia almost yelled.
“Okay,
honey. Was just curious. Tell me later?”
“Fine, I’ll
tell you later, happy now? Leave.”
Adam
laughed and hit her in the head with the wallet. “I’ll leave now, so you can get
back to your ‘business’.”
Cecilia
closed the door in his face, and went over to Fred again.
“You were
kidding, right?” he asked, with a bit of annoyance in his voice.
“About
what?”
“You’re not
gonna tell him later, right?”
Cecilia
smiled. She and Adam never talked about stuff like that. She wasn’t even sure
if he knew that she and Fred was sleeping together. Although, after this late
night meeting he might be aware of that.
“Not like I
would, but I do know for a fact, that you’re not so keen on being quiet
yourself,” Cecilia vindicated. “You and Charlie are pretty close too, aren’t
you?”
“Close like
this?”
“No, not
like you and me,” Cecilia laughed. “Close like me and Adam. Charlie knows some
personal stuff about us, doesn’t he?”
Cecilia
couldn’t help but smile, when she saw Fred blush. So, she had hit right on the
nerve, huh?
“No...
Look, Cecilia, I haven’t told anyone... I mean, Charlie doesn’t know
everything... He doesn’t know anything, besides some things... I mean, not
‘things’ things, just... Things. He doesn’t know anything, I promise, just...
Ahm...” Fred stuttered. When he finally decided that he should stop talking, he
started to clear his throat instead.
“Are you done?”
she asked. “Gee, you got nervous all of a sudden. So, Charlie knows about our
sex-life? Interesting.”
“Nah, he
doesn’t know,” Fred said nervously.
“He doesn’t
know? Somehow, that seems pretty impossible. Since I know that he knows, that
is.”
“You tell
Connie stuff.”
“Yeah, I
know.”
“Guess I
won’t have a sex-life to talk about any longer, huh?” Fred sighed.
Cecilia
patted him on the head. “Poor Fred, all alone, without anyone to stick up for
him.”
Fred
nodded. “I am pretty poor, and I’m seriously sticked into something.”
“What?”
Cecilia asked a bit confused.
“Wanna make
out?”
“’key.”
