| back Old Business Awards and Bridging - Thanks to everyone that helped with the Awards and Bridging. The dinner was nice. We are trying to make improvements so that it won't be so long next year. We just want to make sure that everyone is given the recognition that they deserve. Overall it was great! 4th of July Parade - We had a large float with lots of girls. It looks like we may need another trailer next year. The turnout was very good, expecially since it was the summer. The girls and leaders met at the high school and rode the parade route down to the park. Everyone seemed to have had a lot of fun. Registration Rally - We recruited 75 new girls and lots of new leaders during our 2 rallies. Our first rally was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Schertz. The second rally was held on a Saturday at the Cibolo City Hall in Cibolo. The Junior Girl Scouts had fun leading the crafts at the events. Thank you to everyone that helped at one or both rallies. Everyone should be assigned a troop now. Movie Day - 128 girls and parents participated in our FOGS event. $.50 from each ticket went to FOGS - $64.50. A lot of popcorn was also sold. Everyone did a great job cleaning up the theater after the event. Thank you for your help. We appreciate the King Ranger Theater and Melissa and her husband for all the work they put into this fun event. New Business Events - Tammy has taken the job of Events Director and we are trying something new with our events committees this year. Each age group will get to lead an event for the entire service unit. Our 5th graders helped with the Rally in August. Our 2nd graders set up the Movie Day in September. October's event will be headed by the teen's troop. November will be a service project lead by the 6th grade troops and December will be lead by the 7th and 8th grade troops. October - The teen troop has come up with a scrapbooking event to coincide with Juliette Gordon Low's birthday. Tuesday, October 17 we will come together at the Knights of Columbus Hall for each of the girls and adults to start their Girl Scout scrapbook. The fee is $3.00 for the event and $1.00 for a patch. For more information you can contact Donna or LaDonna or visit our "Current" page. November - We will be doing a service project. Check your email at least once a week for more details. December - A party is in the works. Check your email and come to the next service unit meeting for all the information. Resource Library - The service unit has many books and materials that you can check out to help you with meetings, events and camping. Contact Joyce if you would like to check anything out. Roster - A roster with each leader's name, address and email was sent around for each person to check the information and make any corrections. Please keep your information current. If you have any changes to your information, contact Milda. Pinwheels for Peace - September 21 is International Day for Peace. This event is used to get kids to think of peace, cooperation and tolerance. Our service unit will meet at Rich Park at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 20, to plant our pinwheels. Sign up for your patches at the event or email Sher as soon as possible. To learn more about Pinwheels for Peace check out their website. Leaders - Please sign in at every meeting and event. An event is considered to be a meeting or activity with two or more troops present. Please fill out all event paperwork also. See Tammy if your need help. Keep attendance rosters of your meeting and activities. It is easier to keep records of which girl earned what badge. If you need training, look in the blue training booklet and use the registration form in the back to sign up. Possibilities - this book is published twice a year and contains the council events and other activities you can sign up for. You can sign up as a troop or an individual. Please watch deadlines. We need to be good citizens to each other and help one another with this. Plan ahead. Super Star Service Unit - CIMASCH was awarded Super Star SU for our participation in last year's FOGS campaign. FOGS - Friends of Girl Scouting - helps give financial aide to those who need it to pay for events, dues and uniform items. You will hear more about FOGS next month from Leslie. Troop Coordinator - All the girls that registered at our rallies have been placed in a troop. Please let Edie know if you need a place to meet or would like to meet at one of the schools. She will arrange this for you. |
