| Cookies - Please pick up your orders at Nora's house between 6:30 and 8:00PM Wedneday evening. There will be no pick up this weekend. Pat will be out of town this weekend. If you have any questions, please direct them to Milda or LaDonna. Let us know if anyone is visited by a secret shopper. We would like to hear about the experience. Please use the pink sticky notes on the boxes at your booth sales. One note per customer. Your troop may designate where the cookies for your troops Gift of Caring are donated. Schertz United Methodist Church will accept donations for the care packages they send to the military troops and children's orphanages. Cookie prices are a sensitive matter. Please be careful about what is being said. This is supposed to be for the girls and about the girls. Please use very conservative common sense when talking to others at booths, door to door and in the workplace. Make sure you are allowing your girls to participate in sales at your workplace - if allowed - by having her write a letter to potential customers letting them know about her goals. Thinking Day - February 25 at Marion Middle School cafeteria. Packets were distributed to each leader detailing what is expected of each participating troop. Please check the Current page for more information. We need volunteers to help set up beginning at 9:00AM and then others to help clean up afterwards. Troops will be allowed to go in and set up beginning at 9:00AM. The event begins at 10:00AM. This is for the entire family. Please email Terri no later than February 1 the number of girls and family members that plan to attend Thinking Day. Awards and Bridging - Sunday May 21, location to be announced. The program will begin at about 3:00PM and be followed by a spaghetti dinner. This event is for everyone! Please plan to attend and bring the family. Milda needs to know if your troop will be bridging and the names of all the girls that are bridging. Look for a flyer in your email soon. Area II Campout - Registration has been moved to January 31. Please send in your paperwork and half of your fees by this date. Think green! Brownie and Junior Sports Day - Keep April 1 open. More information to come. This is a Silver Award Project. Youth Service Day - April 22 (this is also Girl Scout Leader Day and Earth Day) - Watch for more information about the project our service unit is planning for this day. We want to give back to the community and this would be a good day to spruce up a local park or walking trail. Contact Milda if you would like to help plan this special day. City of Schertz Liason - Nancy has stepped up in the position of liason in Schertz for CIMASCH. She will attend city council meetings and school board meetings to represent the service unit. If you would like to (or already do) attend the meetings in Cibolo or Marion please contact Milda. Badges and local businesses - If you are working on a cooking badge with your troop, you may want to contact Super Solutions in the Forum. For a small fee they can put together a program to complete a badge or at least part of the requirements of a badge. Sandy's Creative Needle Art on Schertz Parkway will work with your troop on any kind of sewing or needlework badge. Call her and she will create a class (for a cost of the materials) that will have your girls sewing in no time. She is great with the girls! MDE Minute - Janice is on vacatin through the end of the month. If you need something you can contact Brenda at 800-733-0011 X142. All adults going to the Area II Campout need to have a background check on file before they can go. Inquiries have been made about the On-Time and Early Bird patches. They should be in next month. Sandy had some newsletters that leaders needed to pick up and have at cookie booths to increase our recruiting. Tax Exempt card are available. If you haven't received your card please contact Milda. SUD Second - Any troops wanting to practice their flag skill or ceremony skills can contact Milda about participating at the next sevice unit meeting. The school board meetings also allow youth programs to perform the flag ceremony at their meetings. Go online to see when the next meeting is and contact the school board if you are interested. There are a number of badges that can be completed, or at least started, when you work on the Thinking Day requirements. |
