| home MDE Minute - Janice - Janice brought some patches and a flyer for the 95th anniversary of Girl Scouts. The patches are $2.00 -3.00 each. There is also a pin. They are very colorful and large. She will be goin to San Antonio with us. As she gets more information, she will pass it on to us. Watch your email. Training - we will not have to repeat any of our BLT or Camp Consultant (Boot, Scoot) training. The Camp Consultant (Outdoor Training) does have to be renewed every three years from the date of the initial training. You also have to include three dates of campouts you have been on with your troop. In the near future, our First Aider and Camp Consultant cannot be the same person on the Girl Scout trips. You have time to get more people trained in either or both jobs. Janice also set up another BOOT and SCOOT training. Thursday, March 29, in Sequin - BOOT - 6-9PM, cost is $5 and Saturday, March 31, in New Braunfels SCOOT (2-Step) from 8:00AM - 5:00PM, cost is $10. New Braunfels will have a CPR class on March 20 from 6:00PM - 9:00PM. You need to let Janice know immediately if you need First Aid training also. Transitioning to the San Antonio Council will entail a number of changes. Janice will offer an hour class on three different occassions to help us learn some of the ins and outs and all the paperwork that we need to know as a troop leader. Details to be announce (probably sometime in the Summer) - watch your email. One of the changes you need to be aware of has to do with the Financial Report. You need to turn in your troop's Financial Report on or before May 1, 2007. San Antonio and Lone Star Councils will need a copy. Use the cutoff date of April 15. As of April 16, 2007 you need to keep every receipt since San Antonio Council will need copies of these with our Financial Reports. You will also be required to turn in two Financial Reports a year - December and May. Be sure to include your last bank statement and a Detailed Cash Record with your Financial Report. That practice will also be required by SAC. San Antonio Representative - Sports Day fee has dropped. Be sure and register for this event. Cookie Credits will work at SAC. The details have not been worked out yet. You will receive emails with updates once you sign up on the SAC website or click here for the direct link. Thinking Day - Michelle - We had 150 people participate. Comments seem to be positive so far. The entertainment was great! CIMASCH is donating $984.00 to JLWFF from the money taken in from the silent auction, drinks and registration. Great job. Mommy and Me - Samantha - March 20, 2007, 7:00PM at Wiederstien Elementary. Registration and money was due at the SU meeting. There will be stations for painting nails and photos and more. Cookies and punch will be served. See flyer for more information. Girl Scout Sunday - Sher and Leslie - March 4, 2007, 11:30AM Mass at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Wear your uniform. Be prepared to serve cookies and punch after Mass. March 1, 2007 - You may join the Schertz United Methodist Church at 8:30AM, 9:45AM or 11:00AM service. Girl Scouts will serve cookies afterward. If you can not make the services, you may show up to serve cookies after one of the services. Please participate and show your support as each of these churches let us use their buildings for some of our troops to meet at no charge. For more information, contact one of the leaders in charge. Garden Service Project - Milda - Sunday, March 18, 1:00PM - 4:00PM at Rich Park in Cibolo. Bring your garden tools, gloves and lots of enthusiasm. You may bring some annuals to replace any dead plants. We will pull weeds and dead plants. We will ask the city for some mulch to cover the gardens back up. Area II Campout - Tammy - April 27-29 - Registration deadline has been moved to March 6. Please get the registration and money turned in by that date. Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast will be provided. Look at the flyer for the options as far as what day(s) and night(s) you would like to attend. Bridging - Leslie - Friday, May 11 - 7:00PM-9:00PM at Wilder Intermediate. The mentor list was emailed last week for the bridging troops to pair up with an older troop. Make your own arrangements with that troop and get together to complete your bridging activities. We will have dessert and punch after the program. Watch your email for more information or contact Leslie with your questions. Leader Dinner - Edie - May 1 - at the Italian resaraunt by Starbucks in Schertz on IH35. Bring your financial reports and get your meal paid for by the service unit. Cookies - Pat - She has the reports. Please contact her if you haven't gotten your troop cookie report. She will direct you as to how to fill out your report. We are trying to save the service unit cookie bonus. We had too many cookies returned. Please check your report and ensure every girl that participated is on the report. Be sure and check the spelling of names and the amount of cookies sold/returned. Pat will let you know when to do your final deposits. Check your math! Don't hold up your report for a collection. Turn in the collection with the report. SUD Second - Milda - Nomination forms were sent out to all leaders for SU awards. At the bottom of the last page is a place to recognize others that deserve awards (i.e. the place you use for your meetings, etc). Please get this to Milda so she can get it to council and order the awards. NEXT SERVICE UNIT MEETING IS MARCH 27, 2007 AT THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HALL, SCHERTZ |
