| Welcome to 1st Grade!! Hello! My name is Ms. Zelaya and I am the new 1st Grade teacher at Littlejohn Elementary School. This is my first year teaching 1st Grade. I have been teaching kindergarten at Creston Community Consolidated School for the past two years and I have also taught music and pre-kindergarten. I live in DeKalb and have three beautiful and talented children! We have 1 dog, 1 rabbit, 1 gerbil, 1 bird and some fish. If it were up to my olderst daughter (my future veteranarian), we would have many, many more animals!! My hobbies and interests, besides teaching, include reading, candles, stamping, developing my web page, and spending time with my children. I am excited to be working with your children this year. I have created this web page in an effort to not only bring resourses to parents, myself and other teachers, but to also bring you information as to what is happening in your child's classroom. It basically states that I believe that young children should be engaged in activities that allow them to explore their world through their eyes. I hope to provide lessons that are concrete, real and relevant. I believe in child-centered classrooms. I use positive classroom management stategies that respect the needs and feelings of all children. Finally, I believe that teachers should work cooperatively with parents to support learning.
