What is the Morning Meeting?
The morning meeting is part of the Saxon math program for kindergarten.  We learn about the calendar, the days of the week, the months of the year, if yesterday was________, what is today, patterning and numbering the days we have been in school.  I have added grouping with straws to count the number of days we have been in school.  After we have reached the 100th day of school, I add counting in one of the following ways:  by tens, by fives or backwards from 100.  To finish our morning meeting, I have also added our alphabet chart.  We squat when we are saying the sounds of the letters we have focused on and we stand when we are saying the letters we have not focused on.  This is a routine the children do every day and they become very proficient at it.
