January 2, 2005 - Hospitality.

I: INTRODUCTION:

- Because of the new age movement, following Christ isn't easy.
- Good things come in small packages.
- Hospitality pleases God.
- Proverbs 11:24-25; Sometimes you can become rich being generous or poor. If you are generous, you will be rewarded. Give a cup of water, and you will receive a cup of water in return.

II: HOSPITALITY:

- Proverbs 11:5-8; John wrote to encourage those who were kind to others. Genuine hospitality for travelling Christian workers were needed and were still important.

III: PRIDE

Diotrephes not only refused to other people's hospitality, but he also set himself up to become a church boss. Pride disqualified him as a leader.

IV: CONCLUSION

- Luke 9:23-24. Jesus said to all people: "If any of you want to be my followers, you must forget about yourself. You must take up your cross each day and follow me. If you want to save your life, you will destroy it. But if you give up your life for me, you will save it."

- Luke 9:1-8. How Christians can support one another.

- Luke 9:9-11. How much damage one negative leader can do.

V: INVITATION

- Serve someone who is in need of help.
- Ask to serve within your mission or outreach.
