I: INTRODUCTION:
Love is the most talked about, sung about, and thought about theme in the entire world. It is also the most misunderstood.
II: TRUTH AND ERROR:
False teachers encourage believers to throw off moral restraints, teaching that the body does not matter. They also teach that Christ is not really man and that we must be saved by having some special mystical knowledge. The result was that people became in different to sin.
III: ASSURANCE
God is in control of heaven and earth. Because God's word is true, we can have assurance of eternal life and victory over sin. By faith we can be certain of our eternal destiny with him.
IV: CONCLUSION
We all have areas where temptation is strong and habits are hard to break. John does not talk about people who are working to overcome sin; he is talking about people who make a practice of sinning and LOOK FOR A WAY to justify it. Use these three steps to overcome prevailing sin.
1. Seek the power of the Holy Spirit and God's word;
2. Stay away from tempting situations;
3. Seek help from other Christians.
