February 1, 2004 - Lamentation.
Introduction: How to face unfairness, trouble, suffering & punishment.
Unfair: The Government gave me a ticket, so I had to pay $68, because of my parking.
3:21-24- Then I remember something that fills me with hope.
The Lord��s kindness never fails!
If he had not been merciful, we would have been destroyed.
The Lords can always be trusted to show mercy each morning.
Deep in my heart I say,
The Lord is all need; I can depend on him!"
3:22-39. The Mercies of God in the Book of Lamentation.
The Third Song.
1. vv. 22-23 The Lord's kindness never fails!
If he had not been merciful, we would have been destroyed.
The Lords can always be trusted to show mercy each morning.
v. 23: Deut. 33:24, 25-26, 27. Israel, No other God is like ours. The clouds are his chariot as he rides across the skies to come and help us.
The eternal God is our hiding place; he carries us in his arms.
When God tells you to destroy your enemies, he will make them run. (26-27)
b. Israel and Judah were brought to Babel, so they started to cry out to God,.
c. But some people talk & think positive, even if they get into trouble and face punishment.
2. V.25. The writer tells his experience. v.28-33.
Watch up, and surrender to God in Joyful heart like v.28-33. Because it is what the Lord intends. Being rubbed in the dirt can teach us a lesson, we can also learn from insults and hard knocks. The Lord won't always reject us. He causes a lot suffering, but he also has pity because of his great love.
b. Why war in Iraq - America was killed, also Iraq. Saddam Hussein was captured and we didn't know if he was the true Saddam Hussein. And it might be not, and we didn't know what happened to him, but just to wait to hear it from the news.
c. That is the will of God, or maybe not. v.26-33.
V. 34-36: The Lord can always be trusted
To show mercy each morning. V.23. God is just and He wants us to be passion for what ever he has done.
V.26. When we are young , it is good to struggle hard and to sit silently alone, if this is what the Lord intends.
b. The story in Korea: Japan came to one church, ready to kill who ever went out of the church. And they burned the building and also the Pastor and the members of the Church.
They sang a song and all of them died. A few hundreds year later, all of the Pastors from Japan came to that place, and asked for forgiveness, and start to build that church, and they wrote the Pastor name, and the member of the church , made a small monument, and also a special celebration. And the church started growing very fast, because of the death of the Christian-Pastor.
c. Vv.37-38 Good and bad each happens at the command of God Most High. He can use bad happenings for good.
v.39: We are still alive, we shouldn't complain when we are being punished because our sin.
Ps. 119: 71: When you correct me, it did me good because it taught me to study your law.
CONCLUSION: The Lord's kindness never fails! He can always be trusted to show mercy each morning.
INVITATION: Sit silent alone, waiting for God's answer.
