Elendor is the Premiere J.R.R. Tolkien based MUSH with over 1600 players in 5700 rooms. Elendor is a virtual world based on the writings of Tolkien. Elendor recreates the world of Tolkien's imagination, but not necessarily the exact events of the books: What will come to pass in the future is not fixed.

I myself play in one of the Urukish cultures, the Mordain culture, as a Urukish Lieutenant, master forester, and standard bearer currently known as Grul (I die a lot, so im constantly changing names)
You will need some kind of client to play Elendor, You can telnet in, but
here is Pueblo, the client I use to connect.
Mordor is the seat of Sauron's evil power, where is sits in Barad-dur. It is the home of the multitudes of Uruks (Orcs) and Ologs (Trolls), and his most fearsome servants, the Nine Nazgul. The realm covered by the Mordain includes Mordor proper, parts of Ithilien, the Dagorlad, and a large portion of Southern Mirkwood, including the ancient fortress/volcano of Dol Guldor

My character
My character is known as Grul, and he is a Rakarg (Sub-Lieutenant) in the army of the Eye. He is also Master Forester (controls the culture's wood) and Standard Bearer (Holds the Garrison's Standard during battles, and takes care of it constantly) of the Dol Guldur garrison, located in the south of Mirkwood forest. Note
I have only recently come back to elendor after a fairly long absence, so, of course, my previous character no longer exists. I have started again - currently my character is Guruok, a broken down ex-high ranked Mordain Uruk forced to back down to snaga. (slave)

Recently he was promoted to Dog (warrior) and is back on his way up, having received the job of Standard Bearer for the Dol Guldur garrison.
Yet Another Note
Once again I have returned to elendor after a long absense. After a brief stint in Mordor, I realised I couldn't bring back the magic there, so I moved to MORIA, and I am very happy there.

I will be leaving all the old information up for histories sake.
Here is the Moria webpage, and here is my new description. My latest character is Gurstaka, a Muzgak in the Thrakburzum clan, and senior smith.

Deep in the bowels of the central Misty Mountains lies Moria, the "Black Chasm." Huge and haunting, forbidding and forsaken, this subterranean mansion delved by the ancient Dwarves only sinks deeper into speculation and legend as time drains away. Indeed, though it was formerly a most marvelous creation of Middle-earth, it's now but a forlorn testimony to both lust and greed, a phenomenon of the onerous struggle with Evil Tragedy that often befalls the invoker of hubris. He who seeks to walk the paths of Moria and exploit the treasures there may easily quail under the power of its plight and legacy, and certainly might he endure visions and terrors exceeding comprehension. Moria is both luxury and treachery incarnate.

Once Dwarves ruled here, but now Moria's chambers have grown dark and its builders have been lost to it. The grand levels of old remain, but they are instead frequented by the visitations of Orcs, Trolls, Wolves, and other heinous denizens. The tribes of Orcs have banded in alliances unholy, while beasts prowl in their passages. Meanwhile, an unidentified demon lurks in the Deeps below: whispered tales speak of Durin's Bane, a Scourge of Might which once served the Black Enemy, Morgoth. Whatever be the veracity of these tales, Moria is shunned and mostly forgotten according to the volition of the mortal races of the upper world, and hardly discussed amongst the First-born Eldar.
