Then Brian took his disciples and hangers-on into the recording studio and gathered them around him. And he taught them, saying,

"Blessed are the makers of reddi-whip.
Blessed are the hip.
Blessed are the groovy.
Blessed are you who yearn for reddi-whip.
Blessed are you who are persecuted by an overbearing father.
Blessed are you who suffer from record companies that just don't understand.
When these things begin to happen, rejoice, for your reward will be great in record sales."

And Dennis said, "Do we have to write this down?"
And Van Dyke said, "Will this be on the album?"
And Bruce said, "Would you repeat that?"
And Carl said, "The guys in the Beatles don't have to learn this stuff."
And Al said, "Huh?"
And Mike said, "What's this got to do with the album?"

Then one of the executives at Capitol said, "I don't see any of this in your contract. Do you have a song list for the Smile album? Is there an order? Where's the story? Will there be a follow-up album?"

Murray, who had missed the sermon, came to Brian privately and said, "Did we do anything important today?"
