1750�s Catholics from Southern Maryland began to come into the Fort Cumberland area with early English
        and Scotch - Irish settlers
1787 Establishment of the City of Cumberland
1789 Establishment of the Archdiocese of Baltimore
1790 Establishment of the Parish of Saint Mary � Cumberland (Saint Patrick)
1791 Building of first log church on present campus for the English Catholics
1819 First Resident Pastor � Father Felix Brosius
1836 Building of the second Church of Saint Mary on parish campus
1836 Building first rectory
1842 The coming of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and the Irish and German Catholics
1843 Enlargement of the church and first bell tower (bell still in use in present church)
1848 The German Catholics leave to found Ss. Peter and Paul � July 4, 1848
1848 The Irish tear down the second church and begin constructing the present Church of Saint Patrick      
        (modeled on the Church of the Sacred Heart in Dublin)
1848 Dedication of the first Carroll Hall
1851 Dedication of the third church on present site - The Church of Saint  Patrick � November 23, 1851
1851 De La Salle Christian Brothers arrive for a stay of three years
1854 Construction of the present rectory
1862 Dedication of the parish cemetery on Furnace Street
1862 The Sisters of Mercy establish Saint Edward�s Academy for girls
1866 Construction of the convent building with a wing that no longer exists for the classrooms � Building
        known as Saint Edward�s Academy
1882 The Brothers of Mary establish a school for boys in the original Carroll Hall
1883 The Solemn Consecration of the Church of Saint Patrick � June 10, 1883

1888 The Brothers of Mary leave Cumberland
1888 The Sisters of Mercy leave Cumberland
1889 The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Baden Pennsylvania arrive to teach both boys and girls
1891 Birth of future Bishop James E. Walsh of Maryknoll � April 30, 1891
1899 Establishment of the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary � February 3, 1899
1900 Monsignor Wunder establishes Saint Mary�s Parish in South  Cumberland
1901 First Carroll Hall is torn down
1903 A new Carroll Hall is constructed for the parish social center � June 23, 1903
1907 The De La Salle Christian Brothers return to Cumberland
1907 The Sisters of Saint Joseph leave Cumberland
1907 The School Sisters of Notre Dame come to Cumberland � August 19, 1907
1911 The Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul arrive to staff  Allegany Hospital � June 1, 1911
1912 Establishment of the Holy Name Society � April 22, 1912
1923 Construction of the new Saint Patrick�s School building � May 17, 1923
1923 Establishment of Catholic Girls Central High School
1924 La Salle High School moves to Carroll Hall � September 4, 1924
1950 Establishment of the Men�s Club
1967 Establishment of Bishop Walsh High School and the closing of Catholic Girl�s Central and La Salle High
        Schools
1973 Bishop Walsh ordains Father Patrick Fryer in the church � August 18, 1973
1973 Establishment of the parish council
1974 First parish Religious Education Coordinator
1976 First Permanent Deacons ordained in the parish church
1981 Establishment of Saint John Neumann School � grades K through 3 remain on Saint Patrick campus
1985 Bishop Walsh High School becomes Bishop Walsh Middle\ High School
1985 Saint Patrick K to 3rd grade move to Saint John Neumann School
1980 Initiation of the restoration of the parish church with the refurbishing of the exterior
1990 Celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the establishment of the Parish 1790 - 1990
1995 Restoration of the interior of the Parish Church
1997 Establishment of a plan for the future of all of the facilities on the parish campus
1998 Establishment of the Facilities Restoration Fund
1999 Ecumenical relationship with Christ Lutheran Church � Lavale
