HOW DO I KNOW THAT I AM A CHRISTIAN?
If
you will take your Bible and let God speak to you through His Word,
you will know whether you are a Christian or if something is
missing? If you want to know how salvation is to be yours, you must
listen to God and never to any Man. How do I know that I am a
Christian, a heaven-bound child of God? How do I know that I am a
Christian? Above is one of the
most important questions you will ever have to answer. In Romans
3:23, I John 1:8, and 1 John 1:10, God tells us that we all have
sinned. Sin, simply put means that we "miss the mark". We
do not live our lives in a way that pleases God. We just go about
pleasing ourselves. If we wish to please God, we all must look into
God's Word to find what He requires of us in order to be saved, and
"walking on heaven's road". The one road to life eternal
with God and Christ and the saved from all eternity. If the Bible is
new to you, perhaps we should look at just a few of the facts that
will help us understand it better. God's Book is divided into two
wills or Testaments. The Old Testament was for the Jews only. When
Jesus died on the cross, the New Testament, His will for all mankind
came into effect. Two wills cannot be in effect at the same time. In
the first four books of the New Testament we have the books known as
the "Gospels," Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. In the
Gospels we read of the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus,
God's Son. In John 3 :16, we read, "For God so loved the
world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth
in Him should (notice should, not would) not perish but have
everlasting life." Yes, Jesus is the answer to the sins of man.
But mankind must trust and obey the words of Jesus in order to have
that salvation that is offered. In I Timothy 1:15, we read,
"This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation that
Jesus came in to the world to save sinners. Jesus lived a perfect
life: Hebrews 5:9, "And being made perfect, He became the
author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. "Why
did Jesus shed his blood? For the forgiveness of sins, Ephesians:
1,7. "In whom we have redemption through his blood , the
forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace." Now
let's turn our attention to the title of this article, "How Do
I Know That I am A Christian?" We have established that:
-
All
have sinned.
-
All
need to find salvation through Jesus.
-
Jesus
came so that we might have salvation and a home in heaven.
-
The
answer will be found in God's Word not in the words of men.
