Grayling flyfishing in the middle of the Baltic Sea

Holmgadd island/Ume/Vsterbotten/Sweden, August 23--I and my skilled friend Urpo Tirri visited Holmgadd for a day of fly fishing with focus on the big ones. The distribution of fish was as usual very uneven with many usually good fishing places lacking fish. At the end of the day we found a big flock of grayling 0.5-1.1 kg at the southern tip of the island. Around 80 specimens where landed and most of them released again. Black Zulu double hook sized 10 was a useful bait. But also a red ant imitation lured many, especially the larger specimens favoured this more natural bait.

Assumed brown trout trolling in Lossmen swamp

Lossmen swamp/Norsj/Vsterbotten/Sweden, October 17-18--I went with three good mates, Per Lundstrm, Jan Axelsson and Manke-mang, to this deserted area. The lake, a comparably wast, typically humus colored forest lake, is supposed to be inhabited of brownies up to 10 kgs. Well "we came, we saw but we did not succeed"...At least we played monopoly, table tennis and emptied some whiskey bottle together. 1
