My name is Mikael Sandberg. I was born in Karlstad , Sweden, back in 1966, and at present my flock lives in a house in Bygde�. I am the very privilegied father of five lovely kids, Sandra (born 1992), Simon (1993), Linda (1996), Nathalie (1998) and Nadja, and I live happily together with their mother Britt, the late sow Olivia (deceased in 2000), the big grey tiger striped cat named Tarzan, the female rabbits Molly and Mimmi, the hens Hildur, Hanna, Hosianna, Hulda, Harriet and Hallgerd, the rooster Runar, and finally, the female hamsters Fatima and Malika.
My academical profession is biologist, with a small focus on ichthyology and aquatic ecology in which field I have a Bachelor of Science, Ume� University 1990. I also have some minor examinas in Geological Science 20 p, Business Economy 10 p, Aquaculture and Ichthyology 10 p and Studies of Developing Countries 10 p. My former working experience is broad. Since 1992 I have been employed by the Swedish Red Cross , Region Northern Norrland (the northernmost area in Sweden), where I work as co-ordinator of international cooperation. Previously I have also been engaged as youth co-ordinator, educational officer and co-ordinator for IHL/HR training. My region, Northern Norrland, cooperates at present with the Red Cross societies in Kenya and Russia, in particular with Uasin Gishu Branch in Kenya and the Regional Red Cross Committ�s of Karelia and Murmansk (Kola Peninsula). The work os focused on 1. Capacity Building of the RC organisations, 2. Service Programmes for people in the most vulnerable situations and 3. International Knowledge and Understanding.
When necessary I engage and participate in public debate concerning various issues, like children�s rights and their situation in general (child pornography, refugee problems, female circumcision, national family issues, escalating youth crime, drug abuse and violence and the possible causes to this phenomena).
