| Leonardo DiCaprio is Arthur Rimbaud, the
revolutionary young 19th Century poet, whose hedonistic approach to both
life and artistic expression, challenged the establishment and made him a
cultural icon.
When Rimbaud is called to Paris, in 1871, by the respected poet Paul
Verlaine, their common love of literature develops into an intense, but
inevitably destructive relationship.
Rimbaud drinks and rampages his way though the Parisian literary
circle, upsetting everyone, including Verlaine's beautiful wife, with his
audacious disregard for any of society's rules. But increasingly,
their volatile relationship becomes ravaged by bitter jealousy, obsession,
promiscuity and violence, and the seeds of destruction are sewn.
Sexually explicit and provocative, Total Eclipse is the true story of a
young man whose profound influence on contemporary culture can still be
felt today. |
This is a good rendition of the life of Arthur
Rimbaud and stands well on that light alone.
It is famous of course for the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio is seen not
only fully nude, both front and back, but also in full gay situations with
verve that most people will say is full enjoyment of having sex with
another man. Personally I think he was just acting and shows in this
film that he is an actor and not just a pretty face.
So, enjoy the film for its historic value, but don't forget to ogle
DiCaprio as well, you will see why he is a star now, he can act, and he's
also very easy on the eyes. Enjoy all aspects of this film, I did. |
