Like It Is

Starring: Roger Daltrey Dani Behr Ian Rose Steve Bell

Their Write up My Write up
Scarcely out of short trousers, Craig (Steve Bell) is prematurely caught up in Blackpool's macho underworld, dealing and bare-knuckle fighting whilst hiding his true sexual identity.  Determined to escape the escalating violence of his life, he runs away to the bright lights of Soho, turning up on the doorstep of Matt (Ian Rose), a young record producer with whom he once had very bad sex....  Featuring great performances from Dani Behr as Paula, a budding singer who is 'big in Blackpool', and Roger Daltrey, as Matt's big-haired, bad boss, Like It Is is a pleasurably refreshing and unpretentious tale of boy bands, bare chests and more lines of coke than you can shake a stick at.  Above all Like It Is goes for broke as a gay British love story for the late 90's - and wins. This film definitely has its good points, I cannot deny that.  It made me remember all those youngsters I've seen come into the pubs over the years, it's obviously there first time in such a place and they are trying to look so cool and grown up about being there.  Steve Bell (Craig) plays the part so well one could almost imagine him having gone through the experience himself, just shows what a good actor he is I suppose.  Ian Rose (Matt) plays the cynical been there, done that boy rather well.  The storyline is believable, I know, I did it when I was 22.  Roger Daltrey plays the out for what he can get boss so well that he reminds me of many people on the English gay scene.  On the whole, this film is worth watching, not only for its reality value, but also as a gay romance with the connections that gay men can not only see, but have most probably gone through themselves.
