| In 1978 everything seemed possible. For
Phillip, life was an open book with so many pages yet to be filled..,
After the death of his long-term lover, Guy, in 1988, Phillip reminisces about their life together, remembering where they first met - at a yard sale in 1978, when both men were interested in buying the same green plaid shirt... the film flashes back and forth through the different phases of this volatile relationship, including the fateful decision to "open it up", on the condition the Guy promised Phillip that he won't fall in love with someone else and leave him... Of course, this is exactly what happens. This event, however, does not destroy their bond, which continues to exist, only in a different form. Guy eventually returns, and Phillip takes him back - just in time to help him die. Now, ten years later, Phillip remembers the joys, the sorrows, the good times and bad. And it's through him that we witness an exploration of monogamy, faith, forgiveness, and loss: those powerful forces that can tear people apart, or, ultimately, keep them together. |
