Personal Domain Registration and Second Level Domain (SLD) E-mail Forwarding Bundle

Beginning November 7, 2001, OpenSRS will also be offering a Domain Registration and SLD forwarding bundle. This bundle allows registrants to purchase both a domain registration and a second level domain email forwarding account as a package. Registrants will have the option to purchase both services at a reduced fee.

Pre-registrations in the .name TLD will be subject to the following restrictions:

Registrations must be made on the third level for both domain registration and SLD email forwarding.

So a .name web address must look like this:

First name.Last name.name
Last name.First name.name

And a .name e-mail address must look like this:

First name@Last name.name
Last name@First name.name

Tucows/.name Product Offering:

OpenSRS will provide the following products/services to facilitate the launch of .name:

1. Domain Name Registration Service

OpenSRS began accepting pre-registrations for .name domains on November 7, 2001. Any individual or entity is eligible to register a Personal Name if it falls into one of the following categories:

a. The personal name of an individual. Any person can register his or her own personal name. Further, a parent may register the Personal Name of his/her child, provided that the registration is in the name of the child. The same applies to names given as gifts (e.g. personal birthday gifts or from an employer to an employee). All registrations must remain in the name of the rightful owner of the domain.
b. The name of a fictional character. Any individual or entity can register a Personal Name of a fictional character if that individual or entity has trademark or service mark rights to that name. This allows certain fictitious names to maintain a .name presence alongside individuals.
c. Additional characters. Registrants may add numeric characters to the beginning or end of a Personal Name to differentiate it from other Personal Names. For instance, if john.smith.name is already registered, an eligible registrant may opt to purchase john5.smith.name or john.smith5.name.

Domain Name Registrations can be made for periods of either 1, 2 or 10 years.
Wholesale cost is as follows:

1 Year - $10.00
2 Years - $20.00
10 Years - $100.00
