Love is in the air...

Before all of you well-meaning people get excited, I don't mean that love is in my air, sorry.    But love and romance do seem to be the common theme of discussion and food for thought.  Between meeting friends' new love interests to interesting dating stories to recent weddings to the much-discussed topic of "And who are you seeing, Elsie?"/"We need to hook you up with someone, Elsie"/"Why don't you have a boyfriend, Elsie?" (),  it almost feels like it's Valentine's Day in October or something!

To all of you who have already found that "someone", you are very lucky and fortunate.  Although I am sometimes envious of people who have that special person in their lives, I, in recent years, have started to realize that I'm lucky that I still have not found "him" yet.  All the bad luck and heartbreak that I have experienced have only allowed me to learn more about myself.  I feel that for the majority of my life, I did not who I was.  For most of my life, I did as I was told and believed in things that I was told to believe in.  But as I grew up and went through certain experiences, I gradually found my identity emerging.  Today, I know myself way better than I did a few years ago and feel quite comfortable in my own skin (on most days, anyway ).  The time I have spent being on my own has provided me with a lot of much-needed soul searching (this is still in progress).  I think that the worst kind of relationship is when one or both parties involved, do not have their own identity and depends on their partner to "complete" them.

The next guy I become involved with is so lucky not to have a clingy girlfriend!    Now, where can I get some of that air my romantically-involved friends are breathing??
